A New Decade Begins
The start of a new year is a great time to look back on how far you've come, and it's an even better time to look toward the future and be filled with excitement about the endless possibilities ahead of you. Maybe this year you plan to dream a new dream, or maybe you hope to take hold of a goal from your past and find new ways to make it happen. Maybe you're looking for change, a fresh start, new beginnings, or simply a resolve to make this year even more amazing than the last...whatever your aspirations, whatever your dreams, stay inspired, stay motivated, stay courageous, and stay full of hope! THIS. IS. YOUR. YEAR.

To practice loving-kindness meditation, sit in a comfortable and relaxed manner. Take two or three deep breaths with slow, long and complete exhalations. Let go of any concerns or preoccupations. For a few minutes, feel or imagine the breath moving through the center of your chest - in the area of your heart.

Sitting quietly, mentally repeat, slowly and steadily, the following or similar phrases:

May I be happy. May I be well. May I be safe. May I be peaceful and at ease.

While you say these phrases, allow yourself to sink into the intentions they express. Loving-kindness meditation consists primarily of connecting to the intention of wishing ourselves or others happiness. However, if feelings of warmth, friendliness, or love arise in the body or mind, connect to them, allowing them to grow as you repeat the phrases. As an aid to the meditation, you might hold an image of yourself in your mind's eye. This helps reinforce the intentions expressed in the phrases.

After a period of directing loving-kindness toward yourself, bring to mind a friend or someone in your life who has deeply cared for you. Then slowly repeat phrases of loving-kindness toward them:

May you be happy. May you be well. May you be safe. May you be peaceful and at ease.

It is not always easy to practice METTA meditation, don’t discourage practice often or start and try a little a bit of it with this video

Last week was a trying week for me and probably many others too. I mean, have you ever had one of those weeks where it’s a mind thing? Where there are days you find yourself soul-searching, self-analyzing, over thinking, and you have to fight to keep your thoughts right just so you can maintain a positive mindset. Listen, introspection is good, but if you start to feel as though you haven’t gotten it all together yet, you can become overwhelmed. I know, it’s not always easy to think positivity, sunshine and butterflies, however, I’m so glad that we get the chance (seven days) to try, try, and try again. Lesson, changing your self-talk, mindset, and thought patterns to a positive one when life challenges you takes practice. Therefore, be thankful for all the tough weeks you’ve survived, because guess what? You are growing!

You are not alone! Friends, it’s been weeks since our routine and way of life has changed!!! Listen, change is not easy...there are many who are having a difficult time navigating through feelings of aloneness. Many, who don’t and won’t talk about it! Lesson, you may feel alone, but you are not in this thing alone. Chances are there are so many others who feel the way that you do. Tip, don’t be afraid of how you’re feeling! You have a right to feel the way that you do! Just know you’re never alone. Also, try focusing on someone else. I bet you can make someone’s day! There is someone waiting to hear from you... pick up the phone, zoom, Skype, WhatsApp, Marco Polo if you have to, and let them know that they’re not alone!

Every new day is an opportunity to dig deeper into the intention and meaning behind how we live, what we say, what we do, and how we interact with others in this world.

Welcome to today’s practice I am Gabi Johnson, and I invite you to a “Namaste guided meditation” to connect with yourself and connect with your heart

Namasté is more than a word used to end a yoga session. With respect and reverence, Namasté is a way to see and honor the reality of others.

Breath in love exhale compassion and, repeat to yourself…

Just like me everyone is seeking happiness, may we all find the happiness we are seeking
Just like me everyone is protecting themself from suffering, may we all be brave and strong enough to make space for our suffering
Just like me everyone has known sadness, may we all experience love and joy to balance the sadness
Just Like me everyone are doing the best they can, may we all offer compassion to ourselves and others

The greatest gift of all is family. Family doesn’t have to be those that are born of the same bloodline, but those closest to us, the ones that we let into our lives, the ones we call friend. The family can be destroyed, but only by those who are unaccepting and unforgiving. If there is a lack of forgiveness in the hearts of men, the family can be easily broken. Despite it all, the family bond is a deeply rooted one. Family, is unconditional love, a love that is great and complete. A reciprocal love, the kind you can trust (in many cases), will be returned back to you. A love that is incomparable to anything else. Family, will lift your spirits when your down, tell you when you’re wrong and steer you in the right direction. Family undeniably is everything!
Forgive, love unconditionally and cherish those you call family.

The Root Chakra is foundational. When all is well with this chakra, you’ll feel secure, calm and anchored in reality. You’ll be bold enough to tackle new challenges, and you’ll feel confident doing so. This makes a properly aligned Root Chakra vital whenever you’re trying something new or pursuing a major life goal.

Root Chakra Information Summary

Physical Location: The bottom of your spine (where your tailbone is located).
Color: Red.
Element: Earth.
Associated Animal: Elephant.

Emotional Issues and Behaviors of Blocked Root Chakra: If your Chakra is blocked you may feel threatened, panicked or anxious. This anxiety can easily infiltrate your thoughts, making everything suddenly feel uncertain. You may also find that you can’t concentrate and that you’re constantly preoccupied with worries about your well-being. In some people, this can manifest as hypochondria or general paranoia. Physical issues potentially caused by a blocked Root Chakra include a sore lower back, low energy levels, and cold extremities.

I invite you to balance and activate your root chakra with this Guided Meditation, Namaste. Gabi

A few days ago, I was listening to researcher Brene Brown’s ted talk about vulnerability. She said that, most people find it difficult to let others see or perceive them as being vulnerable. Brene continued, “Many people wear multiple masks, in hopes of hiding their vulnerabilities.” Think about it, we have a mask for school, a mask for work, and a mask for entertaining (the list goes on). The mask, changes according to locations and situations, and they cover up the real us....the authentic us. I want us to be encouraged, I want us to be honest, and I want us to stop hiding that we’re vulnerable. After all, we are only human. Let’s administer change by not judging, gossiping, or ridiculing others; everyone for the most part is doing their best. Therefore, let’s stop hiding behind that mask and practice being authentic. Trust me, no one can take that from you. Stop caring about what others think... be true to you. Live!!!

Why Set Intentions?
Setting an intention this month will help you carry through the year, but son’t stop there, set your intention before your meditation, yoga practice, or even before each of your day can be a powerful practice because it’s the first step to embodying that which you want. Wayne Dyer said, “Our intention creates our reality.” And how many times have you heard “What you think, you become,” or “Thoughts become things”?

If you’re focusing your mind on a specific intention during a meditation or before starting your day, you are bringing it to your focused mind, your thoughts, your heart … and in turn helping to bring it into reality.

How to Set an Intention
Your intention should be closely tied to your personal thoughts, values and perspective on life. Intentions can be a clear and specific wish, or as simple as a word or phrase you’d like to align yourself with, like “open your mind and heart,” “love,” “softness,” “strength,” “compassion for myself and others,” “peace,” or “freedom.” Try to keep the intention positive, so instead of saying “stop being a coward,” or “spend less time alone,” choose the intentions, “be courageous” or simply, “community”.

Here are some thought-starters to help you get started in forming an intention:

• What matters most to you?
• What would you like to build, create, or nurture in your life?
• What would you like to let go of?
• Who would you like to forgive in your life?
• How do you feel when you are your happiest self?
• What makes you proud?
• What word(s) would you like to align yourself with?
• What fears would you like to release?
• What are you grateful for?

10 Intentions You Can Borrow
1. Find balance
2. Open your mind and heart
3. Peace
4. Stay steady, calm and focused
5. Act with courage
6. Embrace change
7. Give and receive love
8. Allow yourself to be vulnerable
9. Connect with others
10. Love

“Intentions compressed into words enfold magical power.”
~Deepak Chopra

Enjoy this video, and happy intention setting. Namaste, Gabi

Hey Flower Tribe , it’s Kelly Lehman from Cranbury Fields Flower Farm and I wanted to give you some great garden tips on how to keep your Limelight Hydrangeas looking fabulous longer each fall season.

So here it is October in my NJ secret garden and my Limelight Hydrangea flower blooms are still fresh and beautiful . I’ve been cutting these beautiful blooms and using them in our fresh cut artisanal burlap wrapped floral bouquets that we ship nationwide and people are living them ! When they are cut from the stem in the slightly dried green/pink stage , they dry really nicely in the vase and can be used as a year round dried floral arrangement for a lovely piece of home decor .

My limelight hydrangea plants used to get all burnt out and brown by the end of the summer growing season until I started using this overhead watering trick I learned from a landscaping / garden company around the corner from my flower farm here in planting zone 6 NJ.

I hope this garden tip helps your hydrangeas look as fresh and green and pink as mine do in September and October .

Please remember to keep up with your deep root watering to keep your hydrangea healthy and hydrated . Many people forget to keep up with the watering in fall but temperatures often stay hot through some fall seasons and your plants will still need the extra water on hot weeks that have no rain .

Good luck with these planting tips flower tribe !
